We're All Mad Here

Well, the spaghetti has been thrown and essentially landed…everywhere. One may say “well, that’s the point” and I’d have to agree. I got into a zone and then witnessed each “industry changing” idea ping pong around my head as if powered by gamma-rays themselves. Projects where overlapping with inspiration from corners of my life that couldn’t be more unrelated… and I was loving it.

Over the past six months I seemingly blinked and every possible “dream client” scenario appeared before my eyes. While I regularly kept a range of design clients, never before had my book been so ideally “stacked” wiht projects that just fit. The historic Tudor Revival constructed by the architectural rockstars of the turn of the century in Peoria. The bold and whimsical house with views for days. Even the quaint cottage with brick floors (that we’re totally keeping) in the sleepy community outside of home base, perfect for the meditative drives that do my creative juices well from time to time.

I am literally living my creative and professional dreams. Something that I can’t quite put my finger on as to its conception. When did I transition into dreaming and building into a full functioning doing. Be that as it is, at a time that I simultaneously feel like I am on top of the world my anxiety is through the roof! Speaking frankly and honest will always be my goal. And to be honest, seeing your dreams come true is quite possibly the scariest thing to do. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t supposed to be or you aren’t ready for it, for me, I think it means that I understand the magnitude and have a heart of sincere gratitude. I remember when it was a crazy thought, a wish and a whim.

I am backing up everything that I said “if only I had a chance”.

The feeling in my body reminds me of how it felt to audition back when I was in school. Performance and “stage fright” was never my achilleas heel I was way more intimidated in the moments before. Before it was certain, but close enough that I could fall in love.

We will leave the diagnosis for another day, for now throwing the spaghetti has given way for something magical. I had a chance to comb through some historic tile today at The Old House Society (Bloomington IL). While I didn’t find the tile I was hunting for I did get a bolt of creative genius for doors on another project, and that, my friends, is how it all works!
